As a proud sponsor of the 78th IFA Congress in Melbourne, our Australian member firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, hosted networking drinks at its Melbourne office this week, following the first day of Congress sessions.
The event marked one of the first opportunities for many international guests to visit the firm at 120 Collins Street, home to Corrs’ Melbourne team since November 2025.
Corrs’ Tax and Tax Controversy partners welcomed clients, Congress attendees and colleagues from across the Taxand network. Against sweeping views of the city, guests continued the day’s conversations before moving on to the IFA museum evening at the Melbourne Museum.
Rhys Jewell, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Taxand Australia, comments:
“Thank you to everyone who joined the Corrs Tax and Tax Controversy team for our networking event in our Melbourne office. With the IFA Congress coming to Melbourne for the first time, it was a pleasure to welcome clients, Congress delegates and our Taxand colleagues from around the world, and we hope our guests enjoyed the evening as much as we did.”
Earlier that day, the scientific programme got under way with Rhys speaking at one of the first seminars, which explored the intricacies of tax residence in a borderless world.
Taxanders continue to convene this week as the Congress examines the technical and practical challenges facing the international tax system, from the taxation of royalties and intangibles to tax and the energy transition.
Taxand member firms Maisto e Associati, Taxand Italy and Flick Gocke Schaumburg, Taxand Germany, are also sponsors of this year’s Congress.
Today, Wednesday 21st October, Flick Gocke Schaumburg hosts its Symposium Session, The Art of Tax Litigation – A Practical Workshop Across Jurisdictions featuring expert panellists from Taxand firms worldwide.
