Biography

Before founding Leo Berwick, Nick Kato was the National Leader of Infrastructure M&A and Senior US M&A Tax Partner at a Big 4 firm.

Over the last 20 years, Nick has led landmark infrastructure transactions across regulated utilities (water, electricity, gas), renewable and conventional energy generation and transmission, digital infrastructure and transportation & logistics.

He advises on financing (including P3s), tax, privatization, business strategy, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and divestments. His M&A tax practice focuses on domestic and international transactions (including inversion transactions and IPOs (including “Up C transactions”), for private equity, corporates, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and other institutional investors.
