Mauricio is head of Taxand Colombia, which is Gómez-Pinzón. He has more than 22 years of experience in the field of tax and has served as counsel to various sectors in matters that include corporate taxes, research and litigation in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, financial transactions and project finance, foreign investments in Colombia and Colombian investments abroad.
Mauricio graduated as an attorney from the Universidad del Rosario and has a specialisation in tax law from the aforementioned university. He was a founding partner of the firm Silva Piñeros & Gómez Abogados Ltda. and served as Vice President of Legal Affairs in Cemex Colombia S.A.
Mauricio serves as general counsel to many local and multinational companies in tax matters. He has also advised individuals and family groups in terms of tax planning and estate planning. He is a member of the board of directors and former president of the Colombian Tax Law Institute. He is currently teaching courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
In recent years, he has been consistently recognised by international publications such as Chambers Global, Latinlawyer and PLC Which Lawyer? as a leader in the tax practice in the country.
