Biography

Kwong Wing Leon is based in Singapore where he is a partner and the head of Tax at Withers KhattarWong. He is also a barrister (Gray’s Inn), an advocate and solicitor (Singapore), and a registered trust and estate practitioner (TEP).

 

He advises on income tax, property tax, goods and services tax and stamp duty in Singapore. He also defends taxpayers in audit and investigation cases, pursues objections against Revenue assessments and valuations, and acts as counsel in hearings at Review Boards and in the Courts.

 

Kwong Wing has a record of achieving substantial reductions in clients’ tax liabilities through successful legal argument and critical examination of factual situations. He advises private bankers and high-net-worth individuals on estate and succession planning. He drafts trusts and wills, obtains letters of representation and administers estates. He helps clients surrender tax residence in high-tax jurisdictions and acquire tax-efficient residence in Singapore, set up family offices and apply for permanent residence and citizenship.

 

Kwong Wing is working on an update of Halsbury’s Laws of Singapore as general editor of the volume on Revenue and Taxation. He was named AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers 2009 (Taxation) and is the General Editor of Halsbury’s Laws of Singapore: Revenue and Taxation published by LexisNexis.
