Biography

Gertjan Hesselberth is a partner of Taxand Netherlands.

He has considerable experience in advising on international tax planning, reorganisations, cash repatriations and refinancing projects. His major clients include Dutch, European and UK and US listed multinationals.

In addition, Gertjan has particular experience of working with companies in the food and life sciences industries and Dutch entities owned by private equity funds, where he has advised on typical issues like the tax deductibility of acquisition costs, highly leveraged operations and tax (risk) strategies.

During his career, Gertjan has developed into and can be characterised as a committed and true sparring partner for the Tax Directors, Tax Managers, CFOs and Controllers with whom he works on a daily basis. These strong client relationships have contributed to the many tax rulings, tax controversies and audits he has been involved in over the years. Gertjan has a solid track record of successful negotiations and concluding agreements with the Dutch tax administration.

Gertjan studied tax and corporate law at the University of Maastricht. He started his professional career in 1996 at Arthur Andersen in Amsterdam (now Deloitte). Within Andersen / Deloitte, Gertjan focused on corporate and international taxation.
