Special solidarity contribution on producers of electricity

Law 4093/2012 introduced a special solidarity contribution that will burden producers of electricity from photovoltaic plants. The special contribution shall be in effect for 2 years, between 1st July 2012 and up to 30th June 2014, and may be extended for one further year.

The contribution will be calculated over the income from the feed in tariff (pre-VAT) as follows: 

(a)   Twenty five percent (25%) will be applied on pv plants that were commissioned or energized until 31.12.2011; 

(b)   Thirty percent (30%) will be applied on pv plants  that were commissioned or energized connection after 1.1.2012 and for which the feed in tariffs were “locked” in accordance with the price reference table of Article 27A of Law 3734/2009 prior to February 2012.

(c)    Twenty seven percent (27%) will be applied on pv plants  that were commissioned or energized connection after 1.1.2012 and for which the feed in tariffs were “locked” in accordance with the price reference table of Article 27A of Law 3734/2009 during the period between February 2012 and August 9, 2012;

(d)   Ten percent (10%) for the remaining RES and cogeneration stations. The contribution will be applied at source, i.e. withheld by the market operator at the payment of the feed – in tariffs.
