Luxembourg extends FATCA deadline

Luxembourg

Taxand Luxembourg highlights the recent deadline extension for FATCA.

On 24 July 2015, the Luxembourg tax authorities announced that the deadline for exchange of information under FATCA has been extended to 31 August 2015. An extension of the original deadline to the end of July had already been announced a few months ago. This new extension is mainly due to delays related to the ratification of the IGA by the Luxembourg Parliament, this law being published only on 29 July.

Today, the Luxembourg tax authorities released a newsletter aiming to inform about the ratification of the IGA. The newsletter also states that the 2 draft circulars which had been released in draft form some months ago in anticipation of the IGA ratification have now become final (circulars of 31 July 2015). These circulars provide details regarding of the exchange of information under FATCA.
