Philippines

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued regulations expanding the coverage of taxpayers required to file returns and pay taxes through the electronic filing and payment system. Taxand Philippines highlights the new provisions.

The new regulations on the filing of tax returns have broadened to include:

  • Taxpayers who have been identified by the Revenue District Office based on selection criteria under existing revenue issuances, and
  • Accredited importer and prospective importer required to secure the BIR-Import Clearance Certificates and BIR-Broker Clearance Certificates.
