2011 tax measures announced

Luxembourg

On 5 May 2010, in his traditional speech to the Nation, Prime Minister Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker announced some tax measures to be introduced as from 2011. All are proposals and must still be included in a draft law and discussed and finally passed by the parliament. It is likely that the proposal will evolve in this process. Taxand Luxembourg discuss the key tax measures how these will affect businesses.

Taxand's Take

The Prime Minister's speech was made in a context focussing on competitivity while restoring budgetary balance. The crucial open point remains the indexation of salaries which is widely criticised by the business community and which will need to be limited in order to maintain competitivity. Discussions between the government, business and industry on this point are ongoing.
