Gwayne Lai is based in Taxand USA where he is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC. With more than 10 years of general tax work, Gwayne started his career at Big 4 firms and has focused on International tax matters in the past 5 years. Primary areas of concentration are reorganisations, restructuring and inbound transactions. He has assisted various companies on the following projects: global supply chain restructuring, tax spin-off issues associated with an IPO, multiple buy-side inbound tax structuring, bankruptcy work, IP and finance planning.

Recently, Gwayne spent 4 months in India as part of a secondment with Taxand India in New Delhi. Based on his previous experience on joint Taxand US/Taxand India projects, he was chosen to go to India to help strengthen the ties between the firms, promote the capabilities of Taxand US to Indian based clients, and to gain an understanding of the  Indian business and tax environment.

Gwayne earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a dual concentration in accounting and finance, from Boston University and  a master's degree in taxation from Northeastern University in Boston. Gwayne is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an active member of the Massachusetts State Society of CPAs and also the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
