Alejandro Joya is based in Taxand USA where he is a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal Taxand, LLC in Miami. Alejandro advises multi-state clients on various state and local tax matters, including income/franchise, sales and use, and real estate transfer taxes. Alejandro also has experience in identifying and negotiating state and local incentives for relocating and expanding businesses.

With over 11 years of state and local tax experience, Alejandro has advised companies in a variety of industries including retail, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, food service and solid waste service.

Prior to joining the USA Taxand practice, Alvarez and Marsal Taxand, LLC, Alejandro had an eight-year career with Arthur Andersen's State and Local Tax Practice and a three-year career with Deloitte & Touche's Multistate Tax Services Group. His experience includes state income and sales/use tax audit defence, state tax due diligence investigations, merger and acquisition planning, state tax planning and restructuring, and state income tax compliance.

Alejandro earned his B.B.A., cum laude, in accounting from the University of Miami and a J.D. with honors from Florida State University College of Law. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida, a member of the Florida Bar Tax Section, and a member of the Florida and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.
