David Pert

David Pert is a member of the Taxand Board. He is based in Taxand UK where he is a Managing Director and head of Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK. He brings more than 35 years experience in tax advisory across a wide range of areas, including negotiation and litigation with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, forensic tax investigation and tax mitigation involving companies and high net-worth individuals.
Prior to joining the UK Taxand practice, Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK, David served as CEO of Chiltern Plc. During his 10 years with Chiltern, he established the company as the UK's largest independent tax consultancy, rivaling the "Big Four" accounting firms in the corporate tax field. He also helped build the UK's leading tax investigation practice, which was honored with the prestigious Lexis Nexis award in 2006. Additionally, David has acted in several of the UK's leading tax fraud cases over the past 15 years.
Prior to Chiltern, David spent seven years with a top 20 accountancy practice, where he was recognized as one of the leading specialists in cases of suspected serious tax fraud and dealt with several cases involving the Serious Fraud Office. David began his tax career with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (formerly Inland Revenue) in 1970, spending a total of 18 years with that department, focusing on tax investigations. During that time, David also spent three years in Australia assisting in the drafting of legislation to combat tax fraud.
A UK national, David is a well-known lecturer on the topic of tax fraud and is a regular speaker on that subject in the UK and across Europe.
