Kevin Hindley

International Tax
Kevin Hindley is based in Taxand UK where he is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK LLP. Kevin brings 15 years of experience in corporate and international tax. He works with multi-national companies active across UK and US jurisdictions, including both UK-inbound and UK-outbound work.
Kevin has assisted clients ranging from rapidly growing, privately held companies to businesses in the Fortune 500, across a wide range of industries, including technology, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, professional services, hotel, leisure, retail, automotive, manufacturing and real estate. He has also worked with a number of intermediary professional tax advisory firms, providing input and expert advice from a technical perspective.
Kevin brings considerable tax experience related to group reconstructions and reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, demergers, break-up bids, tax structuring, EU jurisprudence, repatriation planning and capital gains planning. He focuses on technical areas such as the substantial shareholdings exemption, reorganisation provisions, corporate aspects of stamp duty and stamp duty land tax, controlled foreign companies and double tax relief. He also has expert knowledge of research and development tax credits and has published several articles on this topic.
Kevin brings extensive experience of negotiations with Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs at all levels – from local offices through to the Large Business Service and International Division. He has a reputation for a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution and has successfully settled major tax audits on behalf of many clients. Additionally, he brings experience in all areas of tax reporting and compliance for UK and international companies, particularly those in the U.S. He has recently worked with listed U.S. clients on reporting requirements for the purposes of FIN 48.
Prior to joining the UK Taxand practice, Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK LLP, Kevin was with Chiltern Plc, the UK's largest independent tax consultancy, where he completed a secondment to a blue chip multi-national company, and performed a combined advisory and compliance role reporting to the Vice President of Tax. Prior to Chiltern, Kevin spent eight years with the tax groups of Ernst & Young and Deloitte.
Kevin received a bachelor's degree, with first class honours, in mathematics from Kings College London. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) and Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), and won the regional prize for his tax paper in the ICAEW exams. Kevin is a UK national.
