Andrew Gavan

International Tax

Andrew Gavan is based at Taxand UK, where he is Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal Taxand UK in London. He brings over 30 years of Professional Experience in Corporate and other Taxes, UK and International, and the wider business issues of Transactions, Financing, Development and Restructuring.

Andrew was previously with KPMG for over 20 years, 17 as Partner. Prior to KPMG, Andrew was an Inspector Principal with HM Inland Revenue in a City of London District, dealing with FTSE and Financial Companies. He was educated in Scotland, then awarded a Major Scholarship and graduated with Honours from the University of Manchester in Economic and Social Studies.

Andrew has extensive and detailed specialist experience of multiple industries, countries, and issues, and deep lead Tax Advisory experience in UK and International arenas. He works full time alongside Transaction Services and Consulting Groups, with particular responsibility for companies in Mining, Energy, Industrial and Consumer Markets.  His work covers the full deal cycle, from initial evaluation, through purchase, to subsequent integration and rationalization. The industries Andrew has worked in include Oil and Gas, Mining, Heavy and Specialist Industry (Steel, Automotive, Aerospace etc) Transport and Logistics, including Road, Shipping, Air, Pharmaceuticals, Brand and Generics, Consumer Goods and Retail, Energy and Utilities.

Andrew has also specialised since 1990 on assisting investors in East/West transactions. He remains active in the CIS and Eastern Europe, and has lead tax work on successful acquisitions in Europe, the Near East, Middle East, Central Asia and Far East, North and South America, and Africa, and continues UK Listing work assistance.
