José Palacios is based in Taxand Spain where he is a tax partner at Garrigues’ Madrid office. José has 25 years’ experience of providing legal advice to multinational groups, mainly in the areas of international tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring processes and transfer pricing, having acted in numerous foreign investment projects in Spain, as well as in international expansion projects for many Spanish enterprises. José is repeatedly named as one of the most highly regarded tax advisers at an international level in surveys undertaken by trade publications: in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Advisers he has featured in every edition since 1997; he has been named in the International Tax Review (ITR) in September 1998 and June 2004, 2005 and 2006; in Tax Business he was highlighted in 2004, 2005 and 2006; in the ITR’s industry standard guide to the world’s leading tax firms, World Tax, corporate and advisors alike have cited him as a leading advisor in 2004, 2005 and 2006; and Chambers and Mondaq also regular quote José as one of the best in his field. He teaches various courses and seminars on international taxation both in Spain and abroad. José is also a member of the Madrid Bar Association.
