Russell Gaitonde is based in Taxand India where he is a partner of BMR Advisors, India's leading independent firm of tax advisors. He has extensive experience in the financial services sector and specialises in advising clients on corporate tax, foreign investment, exchange control, banking and securities laws, and other regulatory matters.

Russell has worked on several complex projects that involved the banking sector, asset management and securities business, private equity, offshore and onshore funds, securitisation and distressed debt, and real estate. He has advised some of the largest global financial services groups on matters ranging from entry strategy formulation and business and transaction structuring to business reorganisations and structured product offerings.

Russell holds a Master's degree in commerce (majoring in advanced accountancy) from Mumbai University and has been an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since 1999.
