Simon Labrecque

Simon Labrecque is based in Taxand Canada where he is a partner of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP. Simon is situated in the Montréal office and practices in taxation law, business law, commercial law and corporate law, with a special focus on corporate taxation, transactional taxation, tax planning, corporate reorganisation, commodity tax, mergers and acquisitions and business sale transactions. He also participates in negotiations with tax authorities and in the development of specific taxation solutions.
Simon joined Canada’s Taxand practice, Gowling Lafleur Henderson, in January 2003 after having practiced in the Canadian Corporate Tax Group of Ernst & Young in Montréal. He holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Sherbrooke (1997) and was called to the Québec Bar in 1998. Simon also received an Advanced Diploma in taxation from HEC Montréal (2000), Faculty of Graduate Studies, as well as a Master's Degree in taxation law (LL.M.) from the University of Montréal in 2001.
Simon was a finalist for the title of "Corporate lawyer of the year 2007-2008" at the "Leaders of Tomorrow" Gala of the Young Bar Association of Montréal. From January 2006 to December 2007, He was assistant-lecturer in entertainment law at the University of Sherbrooke. He also took part in the revision of the chapter on trust tax law in the Studies on the Quebec Law of Trust doctrine published in 2005 by Mr. John Claxton, as well as having authored various articles on the subject of taxation.
