María Laura Bacigalupo
Ms. Bacigalupo obtained her law degree from the University of Buenos Aires in 1997. Her expertise is in the area of customs and, in particular, customs valuation.
Upon graduation, she worked at the Argentine Ministry of Economy, in the National Directorate of Taxes under the Customs Valuation Area, before moving on to Ernst & Young, where she was part of the Tax Law Area from 2000 to 2002.
Prior to joining BFM&L in 2017, she worked at the law firm of BRSV Abogados from 2003 to 2017, where she was in charge of providing legal assistance and representation in litigation related to customs matters and foreign trade issues before the Argentine customs agency, the Nation’s Tax Court and the Judiciary. In addition, Ms. Bacigalupo was also in charge of analyzing new business and opportunities, counseling on issues related to industry promotion policies, and troubleshooting legal issues.
Ms. Bacigalupo has been a legal advisor to the Argentine Chamber of the Oil Industry and the Center for Cereal Exporters since 2008.
In her daily practice at BFM&L, and together with Mr. Eduardo R. Mallea, she provides customs and international trade advice to both domestic and international clients.
She has been a speaker in several foreign trade seminars and has written articles on customs matters for various specialized publications.
