Javier Escudero

Javier Escudero is based in Taxand Spain where he is with Garrigues. Javier joined Arthur Andersen in 1981, and since 1983 has specialised in tax counseling services. In 1993 he was made partner of Arthur Andersen Asesores Legales y Tributarios, (now J&A Garrigues, S.L.). He currently works at the Madrid Office of Spain’s Taxand practice, Garrigues, as a tax consultant for companies mainly in the energy (oil and electricity), development of infrastructures and advertising services industries.

Javier has participated as a tax advisor in major corporate restructuring transactions (e.g. mergers, spin-offs, etc.) as well as in acquisition and divestment operations and in M&A and restructuring electricity operations. Javier has been recommended in the International Tax Review’s World Tax 2007, the comprehensive guide to the world’s leading tax firms and advisors. Javier graduated in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1979.

He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association. He is also a regular speaker at seminars on a range of corporate income tax related issues and has spoken at client events many times particularly sharing his experience with employees in the energy industry. Javier is a lecturer on the Master’s Degree in Taxation at Centro de Estudios Garrigues and an active member of the board of “Cuadernos de Energía” (a technical publication on the energy industry, sponsored by an number of well known local entities including the Spanish Energy Club).
