Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos Gonzalez is based in Taxand Puerto Rico where he is a partner at Alvarado Tax & Business Advisors LLC. Carlos has over 20 years of experience in the corporate and individual tax consulting area with various international firms and industries. He is also the Operations Manager for our government and tax resolution services and the outsourcing services divisions which provides financial and accounting support services to international and local business entities operating in Puerto Rico.

Before joining Taxand Puerto Rico, Carlos had a seven-year-plus career with Puerto Rico Telephone Company (PRTC) as Executive Tax director. At PRTC, he negotiated the extension of tax exemption and grants periods reducing the pre tax rate, saving millions of dollars in taxes for his company. He successfully implemented the new sales and use tax rules that involved a complex structure of ten different systems that affected fourteen departments. He has also prepared and obtained the approval of tax exemption decrees, revenue ruling and closing agreements. Carlos also worked three years with Caribe General Electric as Tax Manager for the Puerto Rico operation. There, he consolidated all its decrees into a single one saving millions of dollars in taxes. Carlos also worked in the Tax Practices of KPMG, Price Waterhouse LLP and Arthur Andersen LLP. Prior to that, he spent ten years working in public accounting firms, including experience in both audit and taxes.

At Taxand Puerto Rico, Carlos provides corporate tax services for clients in the telecommunications, manufacturing, services and retain industries. He has experience in the use and sale tax for manufacturing and telecommunication industries. He also has experience dealing with tax exemption's grants applications, negotiation and compliance. Carlos works with individual and corporate tax compliance, tax audits at municipal, state and IRS level. He has experience in private and public accounting with international and public business entities.

Carlos has been speaker at many seminars on tax incentives, property tax and sales and use tax. He is a member of the Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Society and of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He earned his Bachelor in Business Administration degree, major in Accounting, from the University of Puerto Rico.
