Post Enron, the tax advisory landscape changed radically. The largest international network of tax advisors disappeared. New legislation was introduced to prevent repeat disasters. Client demand for independent – separate from audit - tax advisors and Big 4 alternatives was created. At the same time the increasing complexity of tax systems demanded the expertise of local dedicated tax advisors and worldwide business operations required global capability.

Taxand was established in 2005 by a respected group of nine entrepreneurial, independent tax firms committed to delivering seamless, responsive service to international and local clients around the world.

Taxand won 'Private Equity Tax Team of the Year' at the ITR Europe Awards 2012, as well as the national tax awards for Cyprus and Portugal. Taxand Finland, Taxand France and Taxand South Africa received the national 'Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year' awards. 

At the ITR Americas awards 2011, Taxand was awarded national tax awards for Puerto Rico and US: Dallas/Houston.  Taxand Argentina and Taxand Peru received 'Tax Disputes Firm of the Year' awards and Taxand received 'Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year' awards for Canada and Venezuela.

At the ITR Asia awards, 2010, Taxand was awarded 'Asia Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year' and 'Asia Tax Policy Firm of the Year'. Taxand India received 'Case of the Year' and 'Best Use of Internet', with Thailand winning 'Tax Disputes Firm of the Year'.

This brings Taxand’s total ITR awards since 2009 to 7 regional awards and 21 national ‘Firm of the Year’ awards.
