Juan Luis is based in Taxand Spain where he is a partner at Garrigues. Juan Luis joined Arthur Andersen in 1991 and since 1992 has specialised in tax counseling services. In 2003 he was made partner at Garrigues. He currently works at the Madrid office of Taxand Spain´s tax practice, Garrigues, as a tax consultant on M&A and private clients. Juan Luis has participated in the analysis and planning of investment and divestment structures and corporate reorganisations (mergers, spin offs, etc) for companies in many sectors (mainly real estate, renewable energies and family businesses) and in the design of acquisition structures in private equity transactions. In addition Juan Luis leads the “family businesses practice” at the Madrid office providing advice on wealth tax and inheritance tax planning for high net worth individuals, family businesses and private banking. He is recommended in the Chambers & Partners Europe guides (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) as a leading lawyer in the wealth management practice. Juan Luis graduated in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1989 and he is a member of the Madrid Bar Association. Juan Luis is also a lecturer on the Master´s Degree in Taxation, on the Master´s Degree in International Taxation and in the Master´s Degree in Business Law at the Centro de Estudios Garrigues and a regular speaker in training of private banking management teams and family businesses associations. He has published articles in specialised press and collaborated in writing some books about tax matters.
